Regular Worship
Schedule
St. James has two
worship services on Sunday mornings. The Evangelical Lutheran Worship
service at 8:45 a.m. is more traditional, based on the ELW hymnal,
includes organ music each Sunday. The Ringing Praise bell choir, St.
James choir, youth choir and various special music selections are usually done
during this service. Holy communion is served each week.
The Now
The Feast and Celebration
worship service is
at 11:00 a.m. This service features a condensed service of only 45
minutes with piano (and occasionally flute) music. Holy communion is served each week.
Children
Welcome
Children are
welcome in worship at St. James. Children learn and grow in God's love by
experiencing worship as a valued member of the faith community. There is a
special area in the back of the sanctuary for children that become restless.
Rocking chairs are also located in the sanctuary for parents that would prefer
to rock their child during worship. A nursery is also available for children
under the age of five.
Holy Communion
Holy communion is
served each Sunday. The elements are distributed at the front of the sanctuary,
but can be brought to the pew for anyone that wishes to remain seated.
Children will
receive a blessing unless a parent indicates that they shall receive the
elements. At St. James, baptized children begin to commune on a regular basis at
a time determined through mutual conversation with the pastor, child, parents
and/or sponsors. Formal instruction and communion take place each spring for
fifth grade Sunday School students and their families.
Hospitality
Following each
worship service, all are invited for coffee, treats and fellowship in the
commons. St. James is handicap accessible with an elevator to provide access to
downstairs including Wold Hall and additional classrooms.
