A Style to fit you….

Exultate Service - 8:30 a.m.

The 8:30 a.m. service is a traditional service with pipe organ and monthly musical offerings from several ensembles.  These include the St. James choir as well as Ringing Praise, the St. James bell choir.  Holy Communion is served every week.

New Song Service - 11:00 a.m.

The 11:00 a.m. service is contemporary worship with a praise band.  The Inversions band is composed of vocals, guitars, keyboard, piano, and drums.  Holy Communion is served every week. During June and July the New Song Service is held outside on the east lawn, weather permitting.

Children Welcome

At St. James, infants and children are welcome and included in worship. Children learn and grow in God’s word by experiencing worship as valued members of the church family. The worship atmosphere is relaxed; there are no nasty looks if a child makes an occasional peep.

To keep children quietly occupied, Rainbow Bags and Sanctuary Faith Chests are filled with soft toys and faith folders containing pencils, crayons, coloring and activity sheets related to worship.

If young children become wiggly during the service, they can move to small tables near the entrance to the worship center to color pictures and cards for shut-ins. The nursery is also available for children under five.

Holy Communion

All are welcome at the Lord's Table. Holy Communion is served weekly at both services. Communion is served at two stations at the front of the worship center, but the elements will be brought to the pew for anyone who wishes to receive communion where they are seated.

Children will receive a blessing unless their parents indicate they should receive the elements. At St. James, baptized children begin to commune on a regular basis at a time determined through mutual conversation that includes the pastor, the child, and the parents or sponsors involved.

Formal instruction and communion as a class occurs each spring with the fifth grade Sunday School students and their families.

Hospitality

Between services, all are invited for coffee, treats, and fellowship in the commons.  St. James is handicap accessible, with an elevator that provides access to downstairs including Wold Hall and additional classrooms.
